Credit Unions

A Credit Union is a not-for-profit co-operative which offers financial products such as savings accounts and low cost loans. They are run by their members and have no shareholders. You normally need to become a member of a Credit Union in order to access their products.

Brent Mutual

Brent Mutual is part of Hillingdon Credit Union and is run by Advice4Renters. It provides low cost loans and savings accounts to anyone who works, lives or studies in Brent.

My Community Bank

Formerly Brent Shrine Credit Union this is now a UK-wide credit union. My Community Bank promises to halve interest on credit or store card loans with interest rates over 20%. They also provide new loan and savings accounts. You can make an appointment by calling 020 7389 0911 or apply online.

Homeheat helpline

Homeheat Helpline can give you advice about grants you may be entitled to, to make your home more energy efficient. You can call them on 0800 33 66 99.

This organization provides free legal advice on housing issues for renters on low-incomes. For clients who do not qualify for legal aid they have a low cost service. You can call them on 020 7624 4327.

Brent Community Law Centre
