What is Let’s Talk Money?

Let’s Talk Money is a new project from Harlesden Money Advice which provides financial education courses to adults in the local community.

What topics does the course cover?

The course covers budgeting, understanding credit, dealing with debt, children and money and money saving tips. The course also aims to get people thinking about their own attitude towards money and how it influences their spending.

Who is it for?

Any adult who wants to get better at managing their money or find out more about the topics listed above.

How long is the course?

The course consists of two sessions that last 3 hours each. The sessions are normally delivered on consecutive Saturdays. We also run a one-off taster session that last 3 hours.

How much does the course cost?

The course is completely free. We are currently funded by Santander Community grants and Community Church Harlesden to deliver these course free of charge to members of the local community.

When does the course run?

We normally deliver our course on Saturdays due to volunteer availability. However, if Saturdays are not possible for your client group, then please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you and find weekday availability. We also deliver taster sessions that are open to all at local libraries and other community organisations. Go to our ‘Upcoming course dates’ section to see when our next course will be.

Where does the course take place?

We can come to your organisation and deliver the course directly to your clients. If you do not have the appropriate space in your offices, we can arrange a training room. We are based in Harlesden (Borough of Brent) and we work with local community organisations and schools within Brent and in neighbouring boroughs (H&F, Camden). Contact us to find out if your organisation comes under our geographic area using the contact details listed below.

Who runs your course?

Our courses are run by trained volunteers from the local community using training materials that are based on the award winning Made of Money course created by Quaker Social Action. All the materials are designed to get participants talking and thinking about money and how they spend their money. You can find out more about Made of Money by going to http://www.quakersocialaction.org.uk/made-of-money-works.
